Privacy Policy

Effective June 27, 2026

AirfareCoach is built and run by Ginger Evans in Houston, TX. This policy explains what information we collect, what we do with it, and who we share it with. It’s written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, email support@airfarecoach.com and we’ll answer you directly.

What we collect

When you create an account and use AirfareCoach, we collect:

  • Account information: your email address, name, and (if you provide it) a phone number for text alerts. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile fields that provider returns — typically your name, email, and account identifier — nothing more.
  • Trip details: origin and destination airports, travel dates, traveler count, the names you save for travelers, and any preferences you set (preferred airlines, time-of-day windows, bag and seat requirements, candidate dates, etc.).
  • Booking information: if you tell us you’ve booked a flight, we store the airline, confirmation code, and price paid so we can show you a savings total and a one-tap link to manage your reservation. You enter this manually — we do not scrape your email or have access to your airline accounts.
  • Payment information: when you subscribe, payment is handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number; our processor sends us a customer ID and subscription status only.
  • Subscription state: your tier (free or paid), trial status, renewal date, and a record of any referral code you applied. We need this to know what features to unlock and when to renew.
  • Notification preferences: your chosen channel (email, SMS, or both), the verbatim consent text you agreed to for SMS, and the timestamp you agreed. Carriers require this record for SMS delivery.
  • Basic usage data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and product-usage events (which features you opened, which alerts you clicked) so we can find bugs and understand which parts of the product are useful. We do not use advertising trackers or sell this data.

How we use it

We use your information for one thing: running the product.

  • We pull flight prices for the specific routes and dates on your trips, every day, so we can show you accurate prices and tell you when to buy.
  • We send recommendations and price alerts by email and (if you opted in) text message.
  • We use your saved preferences to filter and rank flights so the ones you see meet your requirements.
  • We use account and usage data to keep the service secure, fix bugs, and respond when you contact us.

Who we share it with

We share data with a small number of services necessary to run AirfareCoach. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for cross-site tracking.

  • Cloud infrastructure providers host the website, backend service, and database. Your account information and trip data live with these providers in the United States.
  • Payment processors handle subscription billing. We never see or store your card number.
  • Transactional email and SMS providers deliver price alerts, recommendation summaries, account email, and (if you opted in) text messages.
  • Identity providers (Google, Apple) receive a sign-in request when you click their button; they return the basic profile fields described above. We don’t post on your behalf or read any other data from those accounts.
  • Flight price data sources provide the daily price information AirfareCoach monitors. We send route and date information only — never your name, email, or any other personal information.
  • Product analytics and error tracking tools help us understand which features are used and find bugs. We do not use advertising trackers.
  • AI providers generate the parent-readable “why this pick” narrative on your trip page and in alert emails. We send only the structured recommendation context (verdict, prices, days-to-departure) — never your name, email, or other personal information.

If you’d like the specific company names behind each category, email support@airfarecoach.com and we’ll send you our current subprocessor list.

We may also disclose information if required to comply with a valid legal request, but we’ll push back on overbroad requests and tell you when we’re legally permitted to.

Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies that are necessary for the site to work — mainly the session cookie our auth provider sets to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information:

  • The website and the backend service run over HTTPS only.
  • Your account and trip data are encrypted at rest by our database provider.
  • We never see or store your payment card number — our payment processor handles that on their own systems.
  • Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to operate the service.

No service is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach that affects your information, we’ll notify you promptly and tell you what happened.

Children

AirfareCoach is for adults (18+) booking travel for their families. The trips you create may include traveler names and ages of minors — kids in club sports start as young as 9 in our typical use case. That information is provided by you, the parent or guardian, as part of managing your own account.

We do not create accounts for, market to, or contact anyone under 13 directly. We do not share traveler information with third parties for advertising.

Your choices

  • Access and edit: you can view and edit your account information, preferences, and trips at any time from within the app.
  • Notifications: you can opt out of SMS alerts, marketing email, or both at any time without affecting your account.
  • Export or delete: email support@airfarecoach.com and we’ll send you a copy of your data or delete your account, usually within a few business days.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under your state’s privacy law — for example, the right to know what data we hold, request a copy, correct mistakes, or ask us to delete it. This applies to residents of California (CCPA / CPRA), Texas (TDPSA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws.

We honor these rights for everyone, not just residents of those states. To exercise any of them, email support@airfarecoach.com. We’ll respond within 30 days and won’t charge you for the request. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of in those categories.

Text messages (SMS)

If you opt in to text-message alerts, AirfareCoach uses your phone number only to deliver service-related messages about your own trips. We do not send marketing texts and we do not share your number with anyone for marketing.

What we send: price alerts when Coach recommends booking, price-drop or price-rise notifications on flights you’re tracking, booking confirmations, and occasional account or service notices (for example, a trial-ending reminder or a payment-failure alert).

Frequency: message frequency varies based on your trips and price activity. A typical parent receives roughly two to ten messages per month; parents with multiple active trips during a busy booking window may receive more.

Costs: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. AirfareCoach does not charge for text messages.

Opt-out: reply STOP to any AirfareCoach text and we will stop sending SMS to that number. You can also disable SMS from the Notifications page inside the app at any time without affecting your account.

Help: reply HELP to any AirfareCoach text for support contact information, or email support@airfarecoach.com.

Consent: SMS is opt-in. We record the exact consent language shown to you and the timestamp you agreed. Carriers (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T) require this record under A2P 10DLC rules and we keep it for as long as your account is active.

Data retention

We keep your account and trip information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except for records we’re required to keep for tax or legal reasons (for example, billing history).

Where we store data

AirfareCoach is operated from the United States, and our service providers store data in the United States. If you’re accessing the service from outside the US, you understand that your information will be processed here.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how we handle your data, we’ll update the effective date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email.
